Increased Security Risks in Lebanon
Due to escalating tensions between Hizballah and Israel, there’s a heightened security alert in Lebanon. In response to these risks, our on-ground teams at EPM Global Ltd have been mobilized to formulate risk mitigation strategies and evacuation plans.
Current Travel Situation
Lebanon’s infrastructure remains fragile due to the prolonged economic crisis. While the most high-risk areas are still limited to the border regions, concerns are growing regarding the uncertain path of Israel-Hizballah tensions.
Beirut Rafic Harari International Airport is currently operational, and commercial flights are running without disruptions. However, multiple foreign embassies have advised their citizens to leave Lebanon. This is likely to result in a surge in demand for flight tickets, and congestion en route to the airport is anticipated in the coming days.
Recent Security Advice for Lebanon
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has issued travel warnings against Lebanon. They encourage all British nationals in the country to leave while commercial options are available and to register their presence.
The U.S. Department of State has raised that Travel Advisory to Level 4 – Do Not Travel. They emphasize the risks associated with the unpredictable security situation due to the rocket, missile, and artillery exchanges between Israel and Hizballah or other armed militant groups. They also caution that U.S. Embassy consular officers may not always be able to travel to assist U.S. citizens in Lebanon.
